The purpose of this sheet is to calculate the horizontal curve (superelevation). What would you like to do? You can: - View a sample. - Edit a cell. - Clear the entire sheet. - Calculate for all cells with blue borders on top and bottom. - Calculate for selected cells that have been highlighted with a black border on top and selected cells that have been highlighted on bottom. - Calculate for all cells with dotted borders on left and right side of cell range boundary line within entire data set range boundaries.* * * * * * * * * * "How to Overcome Writer's Block. Horizontal curves are usually located near interchanges and around bridges. The object of this sheet is to calculate the values for horizontal curve (superelevation). To perform this calculation, two sheets are needed: one is Horizontal Curve (Superelevation Calculation Sheet); the other is Superelevation Correction Formulas. The purpose of this sheet is to calculate the superelevation. What would you like to do? Curvature factor (C): C = √(3*R2 + 2*R d2) Where: The super elevation is the difference between the centerline of the roadway and the grade line. The grade line is the basic grade of the highway, which is used to adjust vertical curves. The grade line is initially established by identifying points on the roadway that are 1/4 turn from a tangent section, often referred to as "8-point" curve control. The value for superelevation (E) can be calculated by using equation below, where C is curvature factor (Eq. 1) Where: F=Factor to calculate superelevation (Eq. 2) Where, T=Time in minutes (Eq. 3) Superelevation can be calculated by using the equation below, where E is superelevation (Eq. 4) Where: L=Length of superelevation in feet (Eq. 5) The super elevation is the difference between the centerline of the roadway and the grade line. The grade line is the basic grade of the highway, which is used to adjust vertical curves. eccc085e13
